The were guidelines published by World Society Emergency Surgery (2019) British Medical Journal (2018). Data collection focused prognostic scoring, IV fluid resuscitation, nutrition, monitoring patients, invasive intervention, performance cholecystectomy. sources included paper notes, imaging prescribing software. Results 44 presented A score was calculated only 4 (9.1%). 40 (90.1%) received isotonic fluids. However, input output poorly documented 17 (38.6%). 14 (31.8%) nutritional support; oral Fortisip supplements majority (11 25%). Regarding outcomes, 5 (13.6%) developed single or multi-organ dysfunction (respiratory and/or renal failure): 2 (4.5%) required admission High Dependency Unit. died. appropriately, no underwent endoscopic percutaneous drainage pancreatic collections. Where gallstones underlying aetiology (12 27.3%), 10 (22.8%) laparoscopic cholecystectomy during, within weeks of, index admission. Conclusions Our compliance variable, this could negatively impact patient care. Lack scoring balance documentation may undermine ability recognise deteriorating severe requiring escalation Departmental teaching for surgical doctors is proposed intervention.

The care received by nursing home residents with diabetes does not meet ADA standards for ambulatory adults, this study finds. Nor should it. The frail elderly need new standards that address their particular needs.

Infective endocarditis remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the U.S., with an estimated number of 10–15,000 new cases being diagnosed each year (1). Although the number of cases of infective endocarditis occurring as a result of rheumatic disease is diminishing, this reduction in cases has been replaced by an increased incidence of endocarditis among intravenous drug users and ol...

Rev Esp Cardiol 2002;55(8):789-90 789 Infectious endocarditis continues to be a disease with a somber prognosis. In recent years, despite evident advances in surgical and diagnostic techniques, it has not been possible to substantially reduce mortality.1 This is probably due to changes in the clinical spectrum of the disease: at present, it is rare to diagnose endocarditis due to S. pneumoniae ...
متن کاملHow we predict the etiology of acute pancreatitis.
Although acute pancreatitis (AP) may be the consequence of numerous etiologic factors, more than 80% of the episodes are of biliary or alcoholic origin. Although the clinical picture is similar irrespective of the etiology, patients with severe episodes of acute pancreatitis require specific therapeutic maneuvers when biliary-induced while, in the case of alcoholic origin, they only need genera...
